Ligament Filler in Korea: Honest Guide, Cost Factors & Who It Suits (2026)
By Dr. IM JUNHYUNG · Updated
At a glance
| What it is | Firm HA filler placed deep, near the face’s retaining ligaments |
| Main goal | Reinforce support points so tissue below looks less heavy |
| Best for | Early sagging with hollow mid-cheeks or temples |
| Not for | Very loose skin; faces that already look wide |
| Downtime | Swelling or bruising for a few days |
| Reversible | Yes — hyaluronic acid can be dissolved |
What are retaining ligaments?
Fibrous bands — the zygomatic, masseteric, mandibular and orbital ligaments — tether skin and soft tissue to bone. With age, the tissue around them loosens and bone volume drops, so the face slides down around these anchor points.
How ligament filler works
Instead of filling the fold that has formed, small amounts of firm (high-G′) hyaluronic acid are placed deep, close to bone, near the anchor points. Reinforcing the support can make the tissue below look less heavy.
Who it suits — and who it doesn’t
It suits early sagging with hollow mid-cheeks or temples and a softening jawline. It is not a substitute for lifting when skin is very loose, and it can make an already full face look wider.
What shapes the cost
Cost depends mainly on the product, the number of support points and the total volume. Because the technique uses small, divided amounts, a plan focused on the right points matters more than a large number of syringes.
Safety
Ligament areas sit near important vessels and nerves, so depth and position must be precise. Ask which product is used, how much goes where, and how the clinic responds to warning signs such as severe pain, colour change or vision problems.
How we approach it at Taut
We use dissolvable hyaluronic acid only, record the volume at each point, and split the plan with energy lifting when sagging is deeper.
FAQ
Does ligament filler lift the face on its own?
In early sagging, the contour can look tidier. Very loose skin needs lifting as well.
How long does it last?
It varies by product, area and person; firm fillers placed deep tend to last longer than soft fillers.
Can I fly after ligament filler?
Usually yes, but allow a day or two to check swelling and shape.
Is it the same as MD Codes?
It shares the idea of placing filler at structural support points, but every face is planned individually.
